Shop for the planet! RECYCLE – and then buy recycled!

That is the message from the Lincolnshire Waste Partnership to encourage residents to help the environment even more.

Recycling officer Kenton Vigus explains: "By recycling as much waste as you can in the first place, you are helping the environment and reducing the rubbish going to landfill.

"The recyclable materials you put out for collection are then made into new products – everything from computer paper to fleece jackets.
"And if you try and buy these whenever you can, you are really helping the environment for a second time."

By buying new items made from recyclables, you reduce the raw materials – and the energy – needed to create things.
Your choice as a consumer will also encourage manufacturers to make recycled products and ensure that shops stock them.
This makes them easier for shoppers to find, promoting further recycling by more and more people.
And when you've finished with those new products made from recyclables, you can even recycle them again - and so it goes on.

Kenton adds: "It's wonderfully simple: Recycle – buy recycled – recycle – buy recycled...
"And if we all do it whenever we can, it really does make a difference."
