Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE)

On 1st July 2007 new regulations came into force which have revolutionised the way waste electrical equipment is dealt with.

Following the implementation of the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) regulations 2006 producers of electronic equipment are now responsible for the collection and treatment of all household electrical waste.

As a result producers of electrical equipment have set up collection schemes to collect WEEE from Household Waste Recycling Centres in Lincolnshire. This includes items such as:

  • TV's
  • Washing machines
  • Microwaves
  • Computer equipment
  • Fridges & freezers
  • Toasters.

This is great news for Lincolnshire residents who can now recycle used electrical items instead of throwing them away to Landfill.

In addition many retailers are now offering take back schemes for your old electrical appliance when a new one is delivered.

Businesses are to also benefit from the introduction of the WEEE regulations with producers obliged to fund collections of WEEE placed on the market after August 2005.
