Residents are supplied with either a brown wheeled bin or a black box for recycling mixed dry recyclables.

A black bin or purple sacks are provided for residual (or landfill) waste. A green wheeled bin is also provided to most homes in Lincoln for garden waste which is collected every fortnight.

Brown recycling bins are collected every fortnight and black boxes every week. Black landfill bins are emptied either every fortnight on alternate weeks to the recycling, or weekly where smaller black wheeled bins are provided. In the small number of properties where it is provided the black box is emptied at the same time as purple landfill sacks.

Some flats and tower blocks are provided with large communal brown recycling and black landfill bins.
